Bombay high court clears the decks for Metro III

The Bombay High Court on Monday cleared the decks for the Mumbai Metro III which will connect the extreme south of the city to the north.
The project was halted due to the dispute between the Airport Authorities of India (AAI) and the Regency Convention Centre and Hotels Pvt Ltd.
As part of the project, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) wanted to do some construction near the Sahar airport area. Accordingly, it had acquired permissions from the AAI but as some part of the said land was in dispute, the project was stalled.
With the dispute between AAI and Regency Hotels acting as a hurdle in the construction work of Metro III, the MMRCL had moved the Bombay HC seeking relief.
